Diptych

working jackTijuana HillsideIn my day to day work, I do a lot of browsing over at Flickr. I use it as a resource for copyright free images, and as a repository for my own photographs and graphic design work. Today, as I was browsing photos having searched for “realtor” this diptych appeared in the search results. Photos by two different photographers, but they have the same dimensions, and placed this way, they seem to go together. I like it.

Oh, why realtors? Well, there was a rather obnoxious one standing on the stoop across the way, speaking loudly and oafishly into a bluetooth headset just a few minutes ago. He was swatting at the air and saying “Donny, you know how she likes her men; she likes ‘em with fat wallets!” He laughed falsely and told bad jokes as a prelude to any part of the conversation in which actual business was to take place. He called his interlocutor “Buddy.” His pink polo shirt was neatly tucked into khakis that were cinched shut with a webbed belt and finished with Sperry Topsiders, and his skin was too tan for New England in May (or for New England at any time, really).

In short, he was a real character, and I need to write more fiction.
