In which I am warm, but lack reference

In other words, the heat is back on, but I’m still missing one recommendation for my Oxford application, which I need to send off by Tuesday in order for it to make it to the UK in time. Argh. Why must professors not answer emails/leave for other universities/go on sabbatical? This means that I’m getting increasingly desperate, and that the professors that I do ask are less and less likely to help me out since I’m asking so incredibly late. I hope I don’t have to ditch the Oxford app. That would be sad.
