Almost there…

The past two months have been nonstop work for me—just going and going and going until I drop. The end is in sight, however: I have a paper to write, and an exam to take (tomorrow) and then I’ll be finished! I’ve had a lot of help from my friends to get me through (one of them even came and sat with me in my room for a few hours to help me stay focused on my work). Last week, the mantra was “done is better than good”; this week, it’s “I’m almost out of here so it wouldn’t help me to go crazy now, would it?”1 Underclassmen are already moving out; Charlie’s already back home in Denver. It seems to me that I didn’t really see him after the end of Yeomen—we were both so busy. Hopefully my trip to Colorado later this summer will happen, and we’ll catch up then.

I’m trying to make sure all the arrangements for Commencement happen: dinner reservations at restaurants, tickets to Harvard events (not least of which is Commencement itself!), figuring out how to rent my gown, and so forth. I’ve also got to arrange for storage of my things, and at some point I need to actually pack! Planning for my trip to Scandinavia and Turkey is also well underway. Fortunately, Dad has taken on a lot of the responsibility for that, so that I don’t have to worry about it too much.

Next week I’m going down to Juilliard for a second interview. I’m excited; I hope it goes well. I would really love to be there next year. The kind of work I’d be doing would be really interesting (well, the whole phone-answering thing would be a little less interesting than the other things, but interesting, nonetheless). I’m probably going to stay with my friend Phil again, and a mutual friend, Andrew, might also be around. Fun fun fun!

So many changes this week! I’m almost finished with school, Phyllis has started her summer job at Bradley Arant, Amanda graduated from high school with the highest award in the school (to the surprise of no one; I’ve got some talented cousins, I do), Lisa received the highest non-student award at St. George’s, and it just keeps going on and on and on… yay for an excited and varied life.

1I suppose that’s not really a mantra, but it’s certainly what’s been going through my head.
