Notable Incidents from the Past Week
On Sunday, we started building a house in the Ex, and it was complete by Thursday afternoon:
Just don’t ask me about the roof… okay, you asked: the roof (which has real shingles on top) was a complete pain to get on the building, stressed everyone out, and took approximately 10 hours to put up (including a lot of arguing about what was the best way to put on the roof). But it looks wonderful, right? Yeah, sure: from the balcony. Most of the audience can’t see it at all, and those that can can only see it a teeny tiny bit. Now, a question: what kind of set designer designs a set that can’t be seen by the audience? No set designer does that, right? Right. Thank you.
On Wednesday, before the roof got too crazy, I went to the Greenhouse (a diner in the Square) for lunch. I got a cheesburger plate, and I was reading Doubt, this year’s Pulitzer Prize-winner in drama. When my cheeseburger was brought to my table, I decided I’d have a Diet Coke. They brought that, too, and I picked up the glass to drink from it. It was strangely warm, and I put it back down, hearing a pop. As I watched it, there was a second pop, and then, right before my eyes, the glass split cleanly in two. I jumped up in surprise as the two halves fell apart and the contents sloshed all over my table, and the whole restaurant was looking at me. “The glass,” I said. “It split!”
Last night, Sarah, Tim, and I went to see Batman Begins. It was reeeeeeeeeeeeally good.
