Playing Games

For the past month or so, I’ve been using flickr to host my photos on the web. Flickr is fantastic—it’s so much better than organizing things through iPhoto, and besides that you get to share your photos with the world! But beyond that, flickr is just plain fun. In that spirit, I am hereby inaugurating the first game of flickrtag—if you’re on flickr, go find a photo you like that you can tag, add a tag that says “tagyoureit” (and “nobacksies” if you don’t want to be tagged back) and leave a note or a comment telling them to go forth and do the same.

this has nothing to do with flickrtag, but I noticed your link to Kamiel Proost’s dollar bill paintings–did you read the New Yorker article AGES ago about a painter who painted fake currency? It looked completely real (on one side), and had different portraits of people (Susan B. Anthony, Martin luther King, so on) on weird denominations and so on. And he got into trouble with the government because he wouldn’t sell them–he would use them for real currency in stores that would ‘accept’ them for barter, and then get real money as change. So they had, as a value, whatever he put as a denomination on them and he got real change in addition to the goods he wanted. He was charged with counterfeiting, and was paying his lawyer with paintings, too. The article concluded the trial would go on forever because both sides “could just keep printing more money.” It was amazing.
